What 27 Years of Running National Programs Taught Me About Managing Your Home Sale

More Than Good Marketing
A successful home sale takes more than good marketing. It takes someone who can keep the moving pieces moving, while helping you feel comfortable with what comes next.
Before real estate became my full-time work, I spent 27 years in corporate roles at State Street and Citizens, including vice president positions in global project management and executive communications.
I earned my real estate license in 2016, returned to corporate work, and made real estate my full-time focus in 2023. Today, I am Susan Gorden Ryan, a REALTOR® with Jack Conway, serving the South Coast and surrounding coastal communities.
That earlier career shapes how I manage your home sale: with a written plan, clear responsibilities, thoughtful communication, and attention to the details that can become problems when nobody is watching.
What a 40-Location Event Teaches You
At Citizens, I produced a national event across 40 locations. That meant coordinating vendors, schedules, communications, and all the small details the audience would never see.
You learn quickly that a successful event begins long before anyone arrives. Every piece needs an owner. Every deadline needs a purpose. And there needs to be a plan for what happens when something changes.
Selling a home calls for that same discipline.
Photography, preparation, disclosures, showings, offers, inspections, attorneys, and closing arrangements all need coordination. If you are buying your next home at the same time, there is another set of moving pieces to consider.
My job is to understand how those pieces fit together and help you stay informed as we move through them.
Your Plan, Before You Commit
Before you sign a listing agreement, I share my written 135-step listing process so you can see what my work involves.
We discuss what needs to happen before your home goes on the market, how it will be presented, how we will communicate, and what to expect once an offer comes in.
The process provides a consistent foundation. The recommendations reflect your home, your priorities, and your circumstances.
You should not have to commit first and discover the plan later.
Clear Communication Is Part of the Work
Executive communications taught me to make complicated information useful.
You need to know what is happening, what it means for you, and whether a decision is needed. Sometimes that calls for a detailed explanation. Sometimes it means a short update confirming that something is handled.
Throughout your sale, I focus on making the next step clear, explaining your options, and following through.
You already have a life to manage. Keeping track of your agent should not become another responsibility.
The Planning Makes Room for the Personal
A home you have lived in for decades holds more than furniture. There are memories, routines, and decisions about what you want your life to look like next.
You may be ready for less maintenance but unsure where you would go. You may need time to sort through belongings or work out how to sell and buy without feeling rushed.
That deserves patience and practical guidance.
A well-managed process gives us more room to focus on those decisions. We can talk through what matters to you while keeping the necessary work moving.
What This Means for Your Sale
It means preparation begins early. Responsibilities are clear. Deadlines are tracked. When something changes, we address it and adjust the plan.
No agent controls every part of a transaction. What I can do is stay attentive, communicate clearly, and advocate for you throughout it.
If you are considering selling on the South Coast, start with a conversation. We will talk about your home, your timing, and the lifestyle you want next.
Then I will show you how we can build a plan around it.
